1st Middlesex (Machine Gun) Battalion

The 1st Battalion Middlesex served as a support battalion for the 15th (Scottish) Division. It was posted to the division on 1 October 1943. The 1st Middlesex was designated as an MG battalion 1938. This regiment served with the 15th (Scottish) Division throughout the remainder of WWII.

A, B, and C Coys were equipped with Vickers MMGs. D Coy was equipped with 4.2" Heavy Mortars. Each Company was composed of 3 Platoons, and each Platoon was equipped with either four Vickers MMGs (A, B, and C Coys), or four Mortars (in the case of D Coy). This made a total of 12 heavy weapons per Company.
